What is the Special Tango Event – Social Champions?
Pune Tango, in its efforts to pay tribute to the roots of tango, is holding a very special event called Social Champions this year. This tango evening will be unlike any other you have been to before!!
This year, we are keen to honor skills that are inherent to tango – “the social dancing skills”. While we all love a good show, it’s the simple stuff that we wish to celebrate with you.
On one or more days of the festival, the milonga will be paused momentarily and a few participants will be picked at random to improvise tango with an unknown partner to an unknown song.
How do I participate?
1. Register as an individual who wishes to showcase their skills as a social dancer. The participant must have a minimum active dancing experience of 2 years.
2. On the day of the event, a leader – follower pair will be picked at random. This will be done by using the chit in a hat system. It will be open for all to see.
3. Additionally, a song name will be picked from a hat for you to improvise to.
4. If your name gets picked out, the floor is yours for 1 song after that!
Prize
The love and adoration of the crowd and a chance to showcase and celebrate your social dancing skills, which take years to master.
Note
There may be 2 to 3 couples in each round. If we receive an overwhelming number of entries, it is possible that we may not be able to accommodate everyone. The names will be picked at random from a hat, so it is left to chance.
I do not use any online banking channels. How can I register for the event?
Find a friend who uses online banking channels, pay them the registration amount in cash (or kind 😀), and request them to pay online for you. Do not forget to ask your friend to send you a screenshot of the payment. Then fill up the google form linked below per usual.
